Previously, tests were administered separately in English and in Spanish to obtain information about a bilingual child’s skills. Both scores were often low, due to the child acquiring some skills in each language.

PLS-5 Spanish enables capture of the child’s Spanish and English skills in one score for more reliable assessment.

Benefits

  • Capture bilingual-conceptual language scores for Auditory Comprehension and Expressive Communication, plus a Total Language score.
  • Use the same manipulatives kit as the PLS-5 English edition. Spanish storybooks can be ordered separately.

Features

No longer risk underestimating the child’s abilities when testing only in Spanish or only in English.

  • Stimulus pages, administration and scoring directions, and technical information are all included in one compact manual, simplifying administration.
  • Record forms are available in tear-off pads.
  • No manipulatives are needed for children ages 3:0 through 7:1.
  • Paraprofessionals or teacher’s aides can be trained to screen speech and language skills using this tool.
  • Normed with 1,150 monolingual and bilingual Spanish-speaking children in the United States and Puerto Rico.
